Singing contest

Participants and winners of the Wellsburg All-American Idol singing contest held Saturday at Wellsburg’s Central Park included, from left, Courtney Engle, second place- age 12 and under; Faith Garvey, first place- age 12 and under; Kelly Camarote, mistress of ceremonies; Gerry Henwood, owner of Wellsburg Tire and Collision and the contest’s sponsor; Kaeleigh Pattson and Margaret Camilletti, who tied as winners for ages 13-20; April Lowery, first place for ages 21-49; and Toni Voltz, second place for ages 21-49. First-place winners received $50, and second-place recipients received $25. Camarote and her band, Three’s Company entertained attendees after the contest. The event is one of many planned by the Wellsburg 4th of July Committee. The week-long observance continues with a free concert featuring local band Spinning Jenny at 7 p.m. today at Central Park. -- Warren Scott
