CARTER, Emma L., 88, of Steubenville, Ohio, died Thursday, July 4, 2013, in Pittsburgh.
She was born March 10, 1925, in Hopedale, Ohio, to Charles and Eva Smith Carter.
She was a graduate of Wayne High School in Bloomingdale, Ohio, and of the Thompson Business School. She worked as a sales associate at the Hub Department Store.
She was a member of St. Paul AME Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Catherine Jones, Jeanette Carter, Pearl Smith, Louella Carter, and Frances Lambert; and a brother, Ralph Herman Carter.
She is survived by sisters Mary Carter, Jane Hyman, and Beatrice Hill, all of Steubenville; sisters-in- law, Ruth Carter of Almeda, Calif., and Heneritta Carter of Aliquippa, Pa.; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Calling hours Wednesday, July 10, 2013, from 10 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. at Second Baptist Church with Rev. Calvin McLoyd Jr. as minister.
