STEFKA, Kathryn M., 89, formerly of Avella, died Thursday, July 11, 2013, in Washington, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born November 8, 1923, in Slovan, a daughter of the late Nicholas and Eva Bosanac Vujanich.
Mrs. Stefka was a graduate of Union High School in Burgettstown and a graduate of Grace Martin Business School.
Mrs. Stefka worked for several businesses in the Burgettstown area as a bookkeeper, including Penowa Coal Company and American Zinc and Chemical Company.
She was a longtime member of the National Slovak Society where her late husband served as the National President.
Mrs. Stefka enjoyed bowling and was an avid supporter of all Pittsburgh sports teams. She enjoyed traveling with her late husband and once attended a reception at the White House for Pope John Paul II, Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her two granddaughters, who were the love of her life.
On July 1, 1951, she married Joseph Stefka who died on November 3, 1993.
Surviving are a son, Joseph (Annette) Stefka of Slovan; a daughter, Patricia Jo Graham (Nick Mavromatis) of Toronto, OH; two granddaughters, Ashley Stefka (Brett) Bernardo of Wexford, and Kayla Jo (fiance, Dan Whitlatch) Graham of Toronto, OH; two precious great- grandchildren, Carson and Bella Bernardo, a son-in-law, John Schwab of Richmond, VA; a brother, Milan (Carol) Vujanich of Seffner, FL; and a sister, JoAnne (Gary) Stump of Tamarac, FL.
Deceased in addition to her husband and parents are a daughter, Deborah Kay Schwab, a son, David Alan Stefka, a brother, Ivan Vujanich, and a sister, Dorothy Vujanich.
Friends will be received from 2-8 p.m. Sunday, July 14, 2013, in the Taucher Funeral Home, 23 Erie Mine Road, Burgettstown, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 15 with the Rev. Dan Ekas officiating.
Interment will follow in West Pointe Cemetery, Avella.
