Force to hold soccer camp

WEIRTON - The sixth-annual Force Soccer Camp will be held Monday through Aug. 1 at the J.C. Williams Soccer Complex. This camp is for all local players from ages 5-14.

The four day camp is $65 for ages 8-14 and will run from 6 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. The junior camp for ages 5-7 is $45 and will go from 6:15 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.

Creek selling tickets

WINTERSVILLE - The Indian Creek Athletic Department is selling season tickets for $25 and student athletic passes for $35. The athletic pass gains the student admittance to any Indian Creek home athletic event in grades 7-12.

WBA to hold registration

WELLSBURG - The Wellsburg Baseball Association will hold sign-ups for fall baseball at 6 p.m. today at the ball field shelter. Pinto, Mustang, Bronco and Pony-age kids (as of April 30, 2014) are eligible. Cost is $35.

Camp to be held

WHEELING - A pitchers and catchers camp will be held Aug. 3-4 from 9 a.m. to noon at the I-470 Complex. The cost is $40 for one day or $60 for both. It is open for players ages 8-18.

Players will be grouped according to age, physical maturity and overall ability. The camp, run by Justin and Terry Edwards, is scheduled to have Wahsington Wild Things pitching coach Gary Lee, along with Justin Hall and Noah Mull.

Practices begin for Panthers

RAYLAND - Buckeye Local varsity volleyball tryouts will be held from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Aug. 5 at the high school. Junior high volleyball practice will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Aug. 5 at the high school from 9-11.

All athletes must have a valid physical and have been drug tested in order to try out.

Junior high football players will be fitted for helmets at 10 a.m. on July 31 at the east end of the high school. All players are asked to bring a lock for their locker.

PAC to hold meeting

STEUBENVILLE?- The Polish Athletic Club will hold its monthly meeting at 8 p.m. Thursday in the clubhouse. The club will hold a cookout Saturday. The 6 p.m. covered-dish event will be held in the shelter for members and their guests.

Melchiori on list

KENT?- Kent State sophomore Anthony Melchiori was one of 25 punters named to the Ray Guy Award Watch by the Augusta Sports Council. He is the grandson of Bill and Rita DiMarzio of Wintersville.
