WEIRTON - A boil order put into place for a portion of downtown Weirton has been lifted, according to city officials.
A statement released by the Weirton Area Water Board announced the boil order affecting residents of Brooke Street, Labelle Avenue, Gullette Lane, Pleasant Avenue, Sycamore Street and Edgewood Avenue was lifted at 9 p.m. Thursday.
The boil order had been put in place Tuesday morning following a water line break on Brooke Street.
Residents of those areas can use their water regularly, according to officials.
Crews from the city's water department spent much of Tuesday repairing the line break. Afterward, water samples had to be tested to make sure there was no contamination as a result of the line break.
