Marland Heights 5K is set
WEIRTON - The Marland Heights Classic 5K and community races will be held Aug. 16. Along with the 5K race, the event will feature a two-mile fitness walk, youth races for children 12-and-under and the High School Challenge.
Registration forms are available at the Millsop Community Center or online at mcc-weir.tripod.com. The cost is $14 in advance for the adult races ($10 for teens). There will be a $2 fee for youngsters participating in the Youth Fun Run. Race T-shirts will be given to the first 80 participants for the major races and walk.

Brooke to sell tickets
WELLSBURG - Season tickets for the Brooke football season will be available in the athletic office from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday through Aug. 16. Cost is $20 per set with seating contracts.
Current season ticket holders must pick up their tickets no later than Aug. 16 in order to retain current seating. If you do not have a current seating contract, the cost is $75 per seat plus $20 for this season's tickets. Any ticket packets purchased after Aug. 16 will be $5 per game. Unsold reserved seats will be sold on a per game basis for $5 per seat during the week of the games.
Preferred parking passes for current pass holders may be picked up from 9 a.m. go 1 p.m. Thursday and Friday, from 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 12 and Aug. 15-16.
The athletic office will be closed Aug. 14 due to staff meetings.
It is also selling fall athletic passes. The cost is $50 and admits an individual family (two adults and children middle school age and younger in the same household) to all regular season home athletic events during the fall sports season. It does not include varsity football games, WVSSAC or OVAC tournament games.
Student athletic passes are also available for $30 and admits the student to all home regular season athletic events for the 2013-14 school year.
Road Runners to hold tryouts
WHEELING - Tryouts for the 2014 Road Runners travel softball teams will be held Saturday at the I-470 Youth Sports Complex.
Tryouts for U10, U12 and U14 will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and for U16 and U18 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Pitchers in all age brackets must stay an extra 30 minutes.

Edison to sell tickets
RICHMOND - Football season tickets will be on sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday. Monday and Tuesday will be seat renewals and Wednesday through Friday will be new seat purchases.
Senior citizen passes will also be available. In-district passes are $40 and out-of-district passes are $50.

Coleman to hold camp
WEIRTON - Basketball coach Mel Coleman will hold a centers and forwards fundamentals techniques clinic from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday at the Bush Center at Mercy Baptist Church. The cost is $40. Checks are not accepted.
Fundamentals will include footwork, ball handling, defense, rebounding and shooting.
Toronto season tickets on sale
TORONTO - Reserved season football tickets will be on sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday through Aug. 30 at Karaffa Elementary School.
Reserved tickets are $8 per seat ($40 for season) and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Pre-sale is for season tickets only, not individual games.
Tickets purchased at the gate will be $6. Senior citizens tickets at $5 will be available at the gate only. For information, call (740) 537-2471.
Creek selling tickets
WINTERSVILLE - The Indian Creek Athletic Department is selling season tickets for $25 and student athletic passes for $35. The athletic pass gains the student admittance to any Indian Creek home athletic event in grades 7-12.
Big Red boosters to meet
STEUBENVILLE - The Big Red Boosters will meet at 6 p.m. Monday at the high school conference room. Booster representatives will be present at ticket sales on Aug. 13-15 with the yearly booster membership sewsletter. Memberships, NFL cards, and merchandise will also be available.
Androzzi earns awards
PITTSBURGH - Edison's Carter Androzzi won the Outstanding Defensive Back and Gridiron Elite Award at the Dermontti Dawson Steeler Football Camp. Both awards were presented by Dawson.
WEIRTON - A Tuesday night mixed bowling league at Holiday Lanes is in search of new teams. The league will be held at 6:30 p.m. The four-person teams may be all men, all women or mixed.

CHESTER - John Dunn recorded a hole-in-one at Mountaineer Woodview Golf Course. He used an 8-iron on the 125-yard par 3 17th hole. The shot was witnessed by Joe Lellie and Joe Tunno.
Anderson off to college
OXFORD - Randy Anderson will continue his academic and athletic careers at Miami University of Ohio. He will be a member of the football team. He is the son of Ruby Haynes and the grandson of James and Margaret Hayes of Steubenville.
