Sundowners 4-H to hold open
horse show Sunday
NEW CUMBERLAND - The Sundowners 4-H Saddle Club will hold its last open horse show of the season Sunday at the 4-H Camp Aura located on Ross Road.
The show begins at 10 a.m. with five 10-years-old-and-under classes, including walk-trot, thread-the-needle, egg-and-spoon, cloverleaf barrels and leadline. All 10-and-under classes will be awarded a first-place trophy and ribbons up to five places.
Open performance classes begin at noon. They include thread-the-needle, down-and-back, straight barrels, pole-bending, cloverleaf barrels and stakebend. The classes will be divided into age divisions, including 12-and-under, 13-17, and 18-and-over. All classes with eight or more entries will have a cash payback. There also are three added-money classes, which include $50-added barrels, $50-added poles and $25-added stakebend. Champion and reserve will be awarded for all three age categories at the show's conclusion. Contestants must be registered to be considered for champion and reserve awards.

Car cruise scheduled for Saturday
NEW MANCHESTER - A car cruise, featuring antique and classic automobiles, will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Tomlinson Run State Park swimming pool parking lot located on state Route 8, Veteran's Boulevard.
The event will include music, and the first 25 cars will receive a dash plaque. There also will be prizes and a 50/50 drawing. The Tomlinson Run State Park Foundation will have food available.

Mended Hearts to meet Monday
WHEELING - The Greater Wheeling Area Chapter 3280 of the Mended Hearts Inc. will hold the annual heart survivors picnic at 6 p.m. Monday at the Ohio Valley Medical Center's Conference Room B.
All area heart survivors will be acknowledged. All area heart survivors and their loved ones are invited to attend. The cost is $9 per meal.
Dr. Raymond Hinerman, a ear, nose and throat specialist, will speak about sinusplasty.

Writers group to meet
STEUBENVILLE, Ohio - The Tri-State Writers Society, led by award-winning local author Karen Majoris-Garrison, will hold its monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County Schiappa Branch's meeting room located on Mall Drive.
Published and aspiring writers of all genres are welcome to attend.

WEIRTON - The Shiloh Apostolic Faith Assembly will hold outreach services from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 20 at Overbrook Towers located on Cove Road and from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 27 at Freedom Place I located on Main Street.
Residents are invited to participate in the service, which will include songs, testimonies and a message from the Rev. D.W. Cummings.
Following the service, watermelon and ice cream will be served.
