Stubbs to speak about CASA
at Lunch and Learn program
WEIRTON -Rhonda Stubbs, Child's Place CASA executive director, will speak from noon to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Mary H. Weir Public Library's activity room as part of the library's Literacy and Lifelong Learning Program's Lunch and Learn series.
Stubbs will discuss the court-appointed special advocate program, a volunteer-based service for Brooke and Hancock county children in the family court system. Lunch will be provided.

Public service district to meet
WELLSBURG - The Brooke County Public Service District will hold a project and construction meeting at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the district office located at 711 Charles St.
Academy holding orientation
FLORENCE, Pa. - The Tri-State Christian Academy will hold an open orientation and registration from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the school located on Steubenville Pike.
Parents of 3- and 4-year-olds are invited to attend. The school also is accepting 2-year-olds into its Romper Stomper program.
Kindergarten students are invited to a classroom visit with the teacher from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Friday. Kindergarten classes begin Sept. 3, and enrollment is limited.

Church holding yard sale
FLORENCE, Pa. - Harmon Creek Community Church held its last church service Aug. 11 and will be holding a church yard sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
Kitchen equipment, crafts and vacation Bible school items will be available.
Man Camp to begin Friday
MINGO JUNCTION, Ohio - Man Camp 2013, a nondenominational Christian event, will be held from 5 p.m. Friday to noon Sunday at the GKL Sportsmen's Association lower club grounds.
The cost for tent camping is $20 per person. A dinner will be held Aug. 31 with guest speaker Jason McLeod, "Facing the Giants" actor. The dinner costs $10 per person.

Ride to benefit memorial
WEIRTON - The first annual Brooke Hancock County Veterans Memorial bike ride will be held, beginning at noon, Sept. 14 at the Veterans of Foreign Wars located at 3435 Main St.
The last bike out is 1 p.m., and the last bike in is 5 p.m. The cost is $15 per rider and $10 per passenger. The event benefits the memorial and is sponsored by Alliance of Bikers Aimed Toward Education.
Church holding festival
BRIDGEPORT, Ohio - St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church will hold a fall indoor/outdoor craft and food festival from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 28 at the church located at 56381 National Road, next to Wilson Funeral Home.
