McHendry Class remembers

WEIRTON - The Cove Presbyterian Church's Myrtle McHendry Class met Sept. 3 at the church fellowship hall with President Betty Virtue welcoming members and guest and reading the poem "God is Always There."

Eloise Evans presented devotions, using selections from "Jesus Calling," followed by prayer.

Program Chair Eleanor Cline introduced Tim and Chris Connell, Mission West Virginia Team members.

They spoke about renovating a home in Montgomery with a Columbus, Ohio, group. The pair spoke about renovating the home in inclement weather.

The Rev. Ed Rudiger, Cove pastor, screened photos taken by the group.

Tim Connell thanked the group and church for their sponsorship and prayer support, then closed the presentation by singing "Sheltered in the Arms of God."

Virtue called the business session to order.

The Nominating Committee gave a special report; Jenny Van Gilder will be installed as treasurer.

Bonnie Nichols spoke about the loss of former Treasurer Rhadine Ross and her contributions. Members held a moment of silence and special prayer in her memory.

Sunday School Teacher Eleanor Cline encouraged members to come to classes, held at 9:45 a.m. each Sunday. The class is studying Genesis and Exodus.

Cline also reported on the Mission Committee, which recently took supplies to "The Shack" in Morgantown.

Enid Williams, Diana Durst and Esten Jezerski also gave reports.

Virtue reminded the class the 91st anniversary dinner will be held at 5 p.m. Oct. 1 in the fellowship hall.

There were 14 members and five guests in attendance.

Barbara Losey and Van Gilder were the hostesses.

Nichols closed the meeting with prayer.
