Cup of Life Ministries resumes

monthly meetings Friday

WEIRTON - Cup of Life Ministries will resume the monthly meeting Friday at Marland Heights Community Church located at 3900 Bright Way.

Doors open at 6 p.m., and the women's worship service with music leaders Judi Baldwin and Angel Previch begins at 7 p.m. Immediately after the service, Bible teacher Tina Schoolcraft will discuss "Be still and know that I am God."

The event includes food, beverages and dessert and a children's class for children aged pre-kindergarten through fourth grade.

Church to hold steak dinner

BEECH BOTTOM - Holy Family Catholic Mission at state Route 2 and Church Street will hold its annual baked steak dinner from noon to 3 p.m. Sept. 22.

The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under for the meal, which also includes mashed potatoes, green beans, cole slaw, bread, desert and beverage.

Elks Lodge to hold dinner

WEIRTON - The Weirton Elks Lodge 1801 will hold its monthly pasta dinner for members and guests from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

The dinner includes salad, pasta, bread, butter, dessert and coffee or tea. The cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children age 10 and under. A ticket will be selected for a free dinner at next month's pasta Sunday.

Crochet class to meet

WELLSBURG - A free crochet class led by Linda Collett will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Brooke County Public Library.

The class is open to adults of all levels of knowledge. Participants should bring their own supplies and projects and will receive help if they need.

Free diabetic shoe fittings set

WINTERSVILLE, Ohio - Medi Home Care will hold free diabetic shoe fittings from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 19 at their facilities located at 105 Main St.

Library to show film

WELLSBURG - The Brooke County Public Library will show "Oblivion" at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 19.

The PG-13-rated post-apocalyptic film stars Tom Cruise.

Blood drive to be held

WELLSBURG - The Wellsburg Women of the Moose will host an American Red Cross blood drive from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 21 at the Moose Lodge at 844 Main St.

Doughnuts or a hot lunch will be provided to donors.

Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments may be made by calling Linda Porreca at (740) 264-4286 or (304) 737-1552. Donors should bring photo identification.

Applefest pageant to be held

WELLSBURG - The Wellsburg Applefest Pageant will be held at 11 a.m. Sept. 22 at the Wellsburg Moose Lodge at 844 Main St.

The event is open to boys 6 and under and girls 18 and under and will include a talent competition and a high point overall winner this year.

The winners will be crowned by Miss West Virginia during the Wellsburg Applefest, which will be held Oct. 4-6 and is in its 35th year.
