Pleasant Hill School House Museum plans for Octoberfest event

September 13, 2013
Weirton Daily Times

The Pleasant Hill School House Museum will be open to visitors during its Octoberfest fundraiser scheduled Oct. 5 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. that also will include a craft show during the same time at the Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church located on state Route 213, Steubenville, which is located near the museum.

During the open house at the school, Lloyd Wells, a retired history teacher from the Steubenville City Schools system, will present an ongoing Power Point of the history of Island Creek Township. The video includes old photos and descriptions of the historic businesses, industries, schools and churches that made Island Creek a vibrant community before the Pleasant Hill School House closed in 1952.

The school house will be the repository for items that make up the history of the township. Anyone who has memorabilia or photos to donate to the history collection or who needs information on Octoberfest can call Gloria Renda at (740) 264-3565 or Kay Finney at (740) 283-1626.
