WEIRTON - The Tri-State Marine Corps Club Auxiliary held the monthly meeting Sept. 9 at the Serbian American Cultural Center located on Colliers Way.
President Joan Spano presided over the business session. Marcy Spano read devotions, "252 Prayerful Moments."
Chaplain Mary Ann Smith gave the invocation, with special prayers for Gertie Hanlin; Jean Hanlin; Joan Spano; George Tremblay, Chuck Elliott, Harold and Mary Ann Elliott, Jake Killen, Rose Barbara; Scott Dawson; JoAnn Dawson; Bob Davidson; Augie Ragan; Rebecca, Carol and Danny Lyons; and Charles Ulrich.
Peg Dawson led the Pledge of Allegiance. In the absence of Second Vice President Elizabeth Shipe, Vice President Darlene Kemp called roll.
Recording Secretary Carol Lyons read the August meeting minutes, which were approved as read.
Lyons read a thank-you from the West Virginia Veterans Home in Barboursville for 12 birthdays cards sent to the residents, with a list of names with birthdays for the year.
Treasurer Maxine Ragan gave the financial report.
In the absence of Sunshine Chair Mary Ann Elliott, Shirley Brecht gave the Sunshine report. Get-well cards were sent to Wayne Kemp, Linda Elliott and Franlin Zirkleand.
Sympathy cards were sent to Chuck and Josi Elliottt and Danny and Carol Lyons.
July Birthdays wishes went out to Shirley Brecht, Mary Ann Smith, Carol Mack and Mary Arlia.
At a Sept. 7 dinner, members gave door prizes to Gabe Arlia and LaVonne Balint and a Marine yard stalk and bottle of wine to adopted veteran Danny Lyons.
Joan Spano distributed information on Boatsie's Boxes' Operation Christmas Stockings. The gifts are distributed to deployed troops, and any area resident who would like to fill a stocking or make a donation of items or funds toward the program is welcome to do so. Those filling stockings are asked to include their names and addresses so they can be contacted by the military member who receives their stocking.
Darlene Kemp won the 50/50 drawing.
Mary Arlia and Mary Ann Smith served refreshments. Maxine Ragan and LaVonne Balint will serve in October.
The next meeting is 6:30 p.m. Oct. 14.
