WEIRTON - The Weirton community will be covered in pink early next week to help raise awareness of breast cancer.
On Oct. 1, C.H.A.N.G.E., Inc. will hold its annual "Paint the Town Pink" breast cancer awareness walk
Walkers will be able to begin registering at 4:30 p.m. at the C.H.A.N.G.E., Inc. building on West Street in Weirton.
The walk will begin at 5:30 p.m., with participants making a loop around West Street and ending back at the C.H.A.N.G.E. office for refreshments and door prizes.
Proceeds will go to the West Virginia Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Program administered by C.H.A.N.G.E.
The annual walk has drawn hundreds of area residents in recent years.
This year, those participants are expected to include members of the Weir High School girls volleyball team, according to information provided by C.H.A.N.G.E.
Area businesses are being encouraged to decorate their buildings in pink to commemorate Breast Cancer Awareness Month, with awards being presented as part of a contest judged by the City of Weirton.
