WEIRTON - The Weirton Area Water Board has announced water service will be out for a portion of downtown Friday morning.
From 5 a.m. to 10 a.m., water service will be off from the 3500 block of Main Street and Marland Heights Road from Main Street to West Street, according to information provided by the water board.
The outage will allow crews to replace a broken valve in the water system.
Residents and businesses in the affected areas may experience discolored water Friday and into Saturday morning as a result. Water customers in the area are advised to refrain from washing laundry through Saturday to prevent rust staining.
Once water service is restored, a boil order will be in effect for the work area.
In related information, the boil order affecting the area beginning at the 3300 block of Zeta, Elm, Orchard, West and Main streets and ending at Virginia Avenue was lifted at 7 a.m. Wednesday.
The boil order was put into effect after a series of valve replacements in the area.
