St. Anthony to hold benefit spaghetti dinner Sunday

FOLLANSBEE - St. Anthony Catholic Church will hold a spaghetti dinner from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday at St. Francis Center, at 805 Lee Road.

The cost is $7 for adults and $3.50 for children, ages 4-12, with children under 4 admitted free.

Proceeds will go to providing food for backpacks taken home by children at Jefferson Primary School whose families are financially struggling.

Church celebrating patronal feast

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio - The Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Church will celebrate its 107th patronal feast, or slava, Sunday.

The celebration begins with the Divine Liturgy, procession around the church and memorial service for deceased members at 10 a.m. A banquet will be held at 1 p.m. at the Serbian American Cultural Center located on Colliers Way, Weirton.

The Bronko Dopudja family of Chester will be the honored members, or kumovi, for the day.

The church celebrates its feast on the dedication of the Church of the Holy Resurrection, also known as the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, in Jerusalem, which took place in the fourth century.

The public is invited to attend.

Children invited to knitting group

WELLSBURG - The Brooke County Library's Kids Knitting Group will meet from 5:45 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Children in third grade or higher can learn to knit with help from instructor Nora Bell. Bring your yarn and needles or loom to start creating.

Church Women to meet

WEIRTON - The Weirton Church Women United Executive Board meeting will be held at 10 a.m. Oct. 4 at St. Peter AME Church located on County Road.

Marge DiClemente will give the devotions, and JoAnne Gorrell will collect for the Fellowship of the Least Coin. Nancy Sanders, World Community Day program coordinator, will give a report.

All third-year delegates are encouraged to attend to help plan the World Community Day celebration.

Karen Tate is the Weirton unit president.

Lodge women to hold yard sale

WELLSBURG - The Wellsburg Women of the Moose will hold an indoor yard sale at the Moose Lodge at 844 Main St. from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 5.

The group welcomes vendors, who may rent 8 foot tables for $10 each.
