Chapter to meet today
WHEELING - The Mended Hearts Greater Wheeling Area Chapter 280 will meet at 6 p.m. today at Perkin's Restaurant.
Dr. Joseph Gabis, an East Ohio Regional Hospital cardiologist, will give the presentation "Ventricular Fibuilation, Defibulators and Pacemakers."
Museum previewing documentary
WEIRTON - The Weirton Area Museum will preview the documentary "Rediscovering Holliday's Cove" at the Business Showcase/A Taste of the Valley from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Serbian American Cultural Center.
The event is sponsored by the Top of West Virginia Convention and Visitors Bureau.
The museum also will have the 2014 historical photograph calendars, with two different calendars featuring 15 historical photos of the Weirton area.
The documentary will premiere at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Oct. 21 at the Mary H. Weir Public Library.
Class of '64 holding reunion
CHESTER - The Oak Glen High School Class of 1964 will hold a 50th reunion planning meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Chester City Building.

Lions holding pulled pork fundraiser
NEW CUMBERLAND - The New Cumberland Lions Club will hold the last pulled pork dinner fundraiser of the year from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday in the Swaney Memorial Library parking lot.
A pulled pork dinner will cost $6.50, and a sandwich alone will cost $5. Coleslaw topping is an additional 25 cents. One-half smoked chicken dinners are available for $7, and a smoked chicken alone is $5.50. Dinners include baked beans and either potato salad or coleslaw. Chickens are limited; advance ordering is suggested.
Whole smoked pork butts are available for $22 by advance order only. To order a smoked pork butt or reserve a chicken, call (304) 564-5055 by noon Thursday.
Sedlak to give Civil War presentation
ELDERSVILLE, Pa. - The Jefferson Township Historical Society will hold the October meeting at 10 a.m. Oct. 19 at the White Church, located at 11 Fire Road, across from the Jefferson Township Volunteer Fire Department.
Guest speaker Chris Sedlak will present the program "Civil War Living History." Sedlak has been a living historian since 1990. He has participated in the 9th Pennsylvania Reserves living history group and founded the Iron City Guards, a living history group portraying the 1st Pennsylvania Light Artillery, Battery G. The Iron City Guards is one of the premier living history artillery units in the country.
Most recently, the Iron City Guards were asked to be the host battery for the 150th anniversary of Gettysburg living history encampment on the battlefield at Gettysburg on the anniversary dates at the bequest of the National Park Service.
The event will include refreshments and a question-and-answer session. The public is invited to attend.
