NEW MANCHESTER - Effective Monday, the Hancock County Recycle and Convenience Center, 832 Gas Valley Road, will open one hour earlier in response to customer requests.
New hours will be 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Saturday hours will remain 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., said Rob Mark, site manager.
"We are currently showing a 31 percent increase in usage over 2012," Mark said, "passing last year's customer count in September. We have a very conscientious group of customers, growing by the day."
Mark said he knows of only one other West Virginia county (Berkeley) whose recycling center accepts as many recyclables and hazardous items as the Hancock County center.
An updated list of items currently accepted, plus the new hours, are posted at the website: HancockCountyWV.org.
Unused or old paint in original containers is accepted for disposal only. Empty cans or cans with dry paint are not accepted. The recycle center is for Hancock County residents only.
