Mary H. Weir Library to host

Parkhurst for reading

WEIRTON - The Mary H. Weir Public Library will host Tina Parkhurst at 2 p.m. Saturday at the library located on Main Street.

Parkhurst will read from her new book, "Too True Adventures: NeeNee and Furrends Explore the Neighborhood," following the adventures of two cats who don't allow their disabilities to slow them down. NeeNee, who is blind, and Tax, who was injured in a fire, are based on real cats. The two travel through their neighborhood, meeting people and animals.

Friends to host Sands of Time

COLLIERS - Country Friends will host The Sands of Time band Saturday at the Memorial Hall located at 402 Old Police Lodge Road.

The doors open at 6 p.m., and the dance starts at 7 p.m.

On Mondays and Fridays, the group holds covered-dish dinners and open mic nights. The doors open at 4 p.m., the meal begins at 5 p.m., and open mic begins at 6 p.m.

Boosters host 'Night at the Races'

WEIRTON - The Weir High School Cheering Booster presents "A Night at the Races" from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday at the Victorian Hall located at 1801 Pennsylvania Avenue.

The races begin at 7 p.m. The event will include drawings and a 50/50 drawing.

A horse ticket is $30 and includes a horse, admission, food and drink.

The event is for those 21 and older.

AHEPA?holding pancake breakfast

WEIRTON - The American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association will hold the annual all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at the All Saints Hellenic Memorial Hall located at 3528 West St.

The meal includes all-you-can-eat pancakes and sausage with coffee or juice. The cost is $5 and children 8 and under are free.

Women of the Moose hold auction

WELLSBURG - The Wellsburg Women of the Moose will hold their final quarter auction Nov. 10 at the Wellsburg Moose Lodge at 844 Main St.

Doors will open at noon, with the auction to begin at 1 p.m. There also will be food and drinks for sale. Proceeds will benefit Moose-supported charities.

Dinner offered to area veterans

BETHANY - The Bethany Woman's Club, General Federation of Women's Clubs of West Virginia member organization, will honor military veterans with a free dinner from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Nov. 12 at Bethany Memorial Church.
