STEUBENVILLE - A Steubenville woman charged with the stabbing death of a Mingo Junction man was bound over to the Jefferson County grand jury by Municipal Court Judge Daniel Spahn after Tuesday's probable cause hearing.
Sasha Sims, 29, of 1242 Wellesley Ave. was charged with voluntary manslaughter after police alleged she stabbed Edward DeHart of Mingo Junction in the chest during the morning of Oct. 27 during a dispute at her residence.
DeHart was transported to Trinity Medical Center West after the incident, where he was pronounced dead.
Police allege Sims admitted to the stabbing, and during her arraignment before Spahn on Oct. 28 the judge assigned attorney Steven Sickles to represent her. During Tuesday's preliminary hearing, Spahn determined there was probable cause to bind over Sims after hearing evidence presented against her.
Spahn previously set Sims' bond at $100,000, and she was reportedly lodged in the Jefferson County jail.
Police Chief Bill McCafferty previously said the couple had a long history of domestic violence, with police responding to 14 calls this year alone to the residence.
DeHart also previously was arrested on domestic violence charges June 13.
