Orchards at Foxcrest to hold

senior expo Tuesday

NEW CUMBERLAND - The Orchards at Foxcrest will hold a senior expo from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Mountaineer Casino Racetrack and Resort Grand Ballroom located at 1420 Mountaineer Circle, off state Route 2.

There will be a variety of vendors offering services for seniors and information on health issues and community resources. Area health care providers will give free screenings, and those attending will have a chance to win gift cards and gift baskets. Following the expo, those attending are invited to visit the $5 senior buffet at the casino. For information, call Foxcrest at (304) 699-9950.

Benefits to be discussed

WEIRTON - Retired Weirton Steel Co. salaried, non-represented employees are invited to an informational meeting at either 10 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Knights of Columbus Hall located at 1492 Cove Road.

The 2014 healthcare insurance programs available through the Voluntary Employee Benefits Association will be discussed.

Depression, bipolar group to meet

WHEELING - The Ohio Valley Depression and Bipolar Free Support Group will meet Nov. 20 at Wheeling Jesuit University's Whalen Hall.

The group meets the first, third and fifth Wednesdays of each month. It is a free, peer-led group and participation is by choice.

Temple distributing food

WHEELING - Bethlehem Apostolic Temple will hold a Thanksgiving food basket give away from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Nov. 23 at the temple located at 330 N. Main St. It is a first-come, first-served give away. Those attending are asked to bring their own bag or box. For information, call (304) 233-8899.

Senior center announces events

WEIRTON - The Greater Weirton Senior Center will be selling coffee, hot chocolate and hot dogs during the Weirton Christmas parade, which begins at 6 p.m. Nov. 30 and travels Main Street from Virginia Avenue to Marland Heights Road.

The senior center also will be open from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Nov. 30 for quarter bingo.

Christmas bingo will be held Dec. 6. The doors open at 5 p.m., early birds begin at 6:30 p.m. and regular games begin at 7 p.m. Door prizes will be available.

The New Year's Eve party will be be held Dec. 31. Doors open at 7 p.m. The Sands of Time will perform from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. A midnight buffet and desserts will be served. Tickets are $15 per person and $25 per couple. They are available at the senior center or by calling (304) 748-3490.

Counselman named to 'Who's Who'

MARIETTA, Ohio - Joshua Counselman of Wellsburg was one of 21 Marietta College students recently selected for the 2014 "Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges."

Counselman is a graduate of Brooke High School and is majoring in political science.

Since 1934 students have been honored in the annual directory as outstanding campus leaders of the year. "Who's Who Among Students" gives each chosen student national recognition as well as one of the most notable academic awards. Students are nominated by committees and editors of the directory based on their individual academic achievement, service to the community, leadership in extracurricular activities and potential for continued success.
