Christmas VBS something new

The Wellsburg Community Vacation Bible School team will be offering a one-evening event called Christmas Vacation Bible School on Dec. 6 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Wellsburg United Methodist Church located on 11th and Charles St., Wellsburg.

It is open to children ages 4 to 13 years old, but older teens can volunteer to help.

"This special VBS will take children on a journey to discover the true meaning of Christmas," explained Billie Jo Falcon from the Wellsburg United Methodist Church who serves as the VBS director for nine churches in Wellsburg that join together each summer to offer children in the Wellsburg community a week of VBS.

"Crafts, songs, skits stories and more will help children learn of God's gift of love to the world when his son was born in the tiny town of Bethlehem so many years ago. Food will be provided as well so parents can have an evening off," Falcon said.

Pre-registration by Sunday will help planners know how much food to prepare.

Interested participants can obtain a form at one of the nine Wellsburg churches or call and leave a message at (304) 737-0488 or (304) 829-4223.

The event is hosted and staffed by the congregations of Christ Episcopal, Community of Christ, First Baptist, First Presbyterian, New Day Christian Center, St. Johns Catholic, Wellsburg Christian, and Wellsburg and Franklin United Methodist Churches.

For information, contact any of these churches.
