Italian Sons and Daughters

plans Christmas dinner

WEIRTON - The Weirtonian Lodge 183 Italian Sons and Daughters of America will hold its Christmas dinner at 5 p.m., Dec. 4 at Giovanni's Restaurant, 3013 Pennsylvania Ave.

Concert to help food pantry

WEIRTON - The contemporary Christian band, Led By Mercy, is hosting a Free Thanksgiving concert 7 p.m., Nov. 23 at Mercy Baptist Church at 3474 Pennsylvania Avenue, Weirton.

The two-hour concert will feature original contemporary Christian music, the music of the leading contemporary Christian artists, and scripture. Refreshments will be served.

Those wishing to attend are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item, or other donation, which will be taken to a local food pantry to assist with meals for Thanksgiving.

Church to hold cookie walk

WEIRTON - Christ United Methodist Church will hold its cookie walk 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 7.

Participants will have the opportunity to visit each table, selecting the types of cookies they like at a cost of $5 per dozen.

There also will be soups and hot roast beef and sloppy joe sandwiches available for both eat-in or take-out.

The ladies at Christ United Methodist have been doing this project since 1997 under the direction of Jean Gumm.

Orders can be placed ahead of time by calling the church on Tuesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at (304) 723-0800, or by contacting Gumm at (304) 723-1438.

Christ United Methodist Church is located at 3598 Pennsylvania Avenue directly behind the office of Podiatrist, Dr. John Garan.

St. Thomas to hold

Thanksgiving service

WEIRTON - St. Thomas Episcopal Church will hold a Thanksgiving eve Holy Communion Service at 7 p.m. Nov. 27 at the church located on Three Springs Drive.

The service is open to the public and those passing through.

The Rev. Eugene Sheppard is the pastor.

Community dinner planned

WEIRTON - The Weirton Ministerial Association is planning its annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 28 at the Greater Weirton Senior Citizens Center.

The dinner is free to the public, and will include turkey, ham, dressing, yams, green beans and a dessert. Games and activities also will be provided.

Country Friends to host band

COLLIERS - Country Friends will host Stone Street Station at the Memorial Hall at 67 Old Police Lodge Road, Colliers, on Saturday.

Doors will open at 6 p.m., with the dance at 7 p.m.
