ALVIS, Phyllis P., 86, a homemaker of Toronto, OH, passed away Friday, November 15, 2013 at the Trinity Medical Center, West, Steubenville, OH.
She was born August 31, 1927 in Toronto, OH the daughter of the late William and Mary (Straka) White.
Phyllis was a member of the Toronto Wesleyan Church and was a former employee of the former Stacy's I.G.A. grocery store in Toronto.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl "Cliff" Alvis in 1981; daughters, Leslie Moody in 2006 and Cheryl Toney in 2012; son, George Alvis; grandson, Michael R. Alvis in 2008; sister, Shirley Wargo in 2013.
Phyllis' survivors are her daughter, Denise (Allen) Cain of Steubenville, OH; grandchildren, Carl, Shawn and Steven Cain, Jason and Chris Alvis; great- grandchildren, Devon and Justin Alvis; sister, Doris Conlon of Toronto, OH; brothers, Donald (Debbie) White of Stratton, OH and Roger White of Toronto; son-in-law, Monte Toney of Wintersville, OH.
Visitation hours for Phyllis will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 19th at the Clarke Funeral Home, 302 Main St., Toronto, OH.
A celebration service of Phyllis' life will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Reverend Ronald Miller officiating. Burial will be at the Toronto Union Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
