AGRESTA, Gloria Petrella, 89, of Steubenville, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, November 18, 2013.
She was born on September 14, 1924, in Steubenville, the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Marzietta Cutarella Petrella.
Gloria was a member of Holy Family Church and its St. Francis Society, Four Seasons and American Association of Retired Persons 3846 both of Weirton, and the Italian American Cultural Club. Gloria was a homemaker but also worked at the former Loblaws Grocery Store, Downtown Bakery and assisted with the bookkeeping duties for Agresta Landscaping.
Gloria was an amazing woman with great strength and was forthcoming with her words. She was a fantastic role model for her entire family. She loved to travel, exercise on her treadmill, read books and play cards. Gin rummy was her game of choice with her can of change. We cannot forget her love of slot machines. She lived the good life.
Gloria is preceded in death by her husband, John W. Agresta and three sisters, Agnes DiNovo, Hazel Viola, Dora Savinell and three brothers, infant brother, Ralph and Sam Petrella.
Surviving are her son, John D. Agresta of St. Petersburg, FL; daughter and son-in-law, Valerie and Michael Rowland of Steubenville; granddaughters, Gloria Llewellyn and Jennifer Rowland; grandson-in-law, Donald R Llewellyn, Jr.; and two great-grandsons, Elijah and Ethan Llewellyn.
Calling hours are Wednesday 4-8 p.m. at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd. Steubenville. A Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Holy Family Catholic Church, Msgr. Gerald Calovini, celebrant. Burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. There will be a vigil service at 7:45 Wednesday.
