CHARLESTON, Ill. - Former Weir High swimming standout Kelsey Ferguson has joined the Eastern Illinos University swimming and diving team.
The sophomore will join the EIU program in IM and breaststroke events.
"We are very excited to bring Kelsey in this winter," said EIU head coach Elliott McGill. "She's a very talented swimmer who will make an immediate impact and be able to score in multiple events for us at the conference meet."
Ferguson won six individual West Virginia state titles during her high school swimming days for the Red Riders. She was also a multiple OVAC winner.
While swimming last year for Marshall, Ferguson ranked No. 6 all-time in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.81) and No. 9 in the 200 breaststroke (2:25.55).
A two-time National Honor Society member, Kelsey plans to major in economics while at Eastern.
After swimming one season at Marshall as a true freshman, Ferguson chose to transfer to EIU, "because I enjoyed the college atmosphere and it felt like everyone here was a big family."
