Redskins roll past Minerva

WINTERSVILLE - Kiarra Kamarec scored 20 points and Bre Berryman added 16 points as the Indian Creek girls basketball team improved to 2-1 on the year with a 58-38 win over visiting Minerva on Tuesday.

Brooke Mains drained the Redskins' lone 3-pointer and finished with 14 points.

Huskies fall by 3 points

CADIZ - Despite a hot-shooting night by Austin Kowalski, the Harrison Central boys basketball team was defeated by Beaver Local, 63-60, on Tuesday.

Kowalski hit three 3-pointers and finished with 17 points to lead the Huskies (1-1). Dustin Reddish added 13 points, while Cody Evans chipped in with nine.

Jared Lighter scored 23 points for the Beavers (2-1).

Wheeling Park upends Brooke girls

WELLSBURG - Chloe Robb and Danielle Kutrovac each scored in double figures to lead Wheeling Park past Brooke, 63-59, on Tuesday. Robb led with 14 points and Kutrovac added 10.

For Brooke (0-1), Angela Staffillino led all scorers with 27 points, including a pair of 3-pointers. Michaela Hinerman added 18 points in the losing effort.

Golden Bears Meet the Team

NEW?MANCHESTER?- Oak Glen will host the Winter Sports Meet the Bears night at 7 p.m. Thursday in the high school field house.

All high school and middle school winter sports teams will be introduced. Come and meet the players and coaches for the high school boys and girls basketball, wrestling and cheering teams and band and the middle school boys and girls basketball, wrestling and cheering teams. Admission is free.

Edison's Morrison inducted in HOF

TORONTO - Matt Morrison, the current principal at Edison High School and the former baseball coach at Toronto, became a hall of famer Tuesday.

Morrison was honored prior to the Toronto-Edison boys basketball game inside the new Red Knight gymnasium.

Brad Barclay, president of the Eastern District coaches association, and Brian Perkins, the Eastern District senior representative on the state board and the current Red Knight coach, presented Morrison as the newest member of the Eastern District Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

Morrison became Toronto's head coach in 1994 and ran the Red Knight program for 11 years. During that time, he established a consistent winning program. His teams were known for being fundamentally sound, disciplined and for thriving on competition.

His career record at Toronto was 222-80. His teams won 10 straight sectional titles, four district championships, a regional crown and a Division IV state championship in 1998.

Morrison-coached Red Knight clubs were crowned Ohio poll champions in 1999, 2000 and 2002. He also guided Toronto to three OVAC championships.

Morrison was named Eastern District and state coach of the year in 1999. He also coached in the Mizuno All-Ohio All-State game that same year.
