COLUMBUS -- Steubenville Catholic Central senior quarterback Brenton Colabella has been named a first-team quarterback in the Associated Press Division VII All-Ohio high school football team, which is based on the recommendations of a state media panel.
Colabella finished the season 135-for-215 for 2,229 yards, 30 scores and 10 picks as the Crusaders went 8-2 and lost in the regional semifinal to Glouster Trimble, which will play for a state championship on Saturday.
Colabella had six teammates join him on one of the all-state teams.
Teammate Ryan Fletcher was named a second-team receiver. Khalil Jones (running back) and Aleks Porreca (defensive back) were selected to the third-team.
Louis Fallon, Marty Engle and Chris Murphy were special mention selections, along with Toronto sophomore linebacker Cody King.
Fletcher caught 26 passes for 540 yard and 12 scores. He also ran the ball 40 times for 355 yards and five touchdowns.
Porreca had 37 tackles, five for loss, a sack and fumble recovery.
Jones totaled 628 yards on 55 carries (11.4) and 13 touchdowns.
