To the editor:
I want to express my thanks to the city of Toronto and its departments. With the construction of our new school building, we experienced many needs.
First, with traffic control patterns, arrival and dismissal we have always had the help of Chief Randy Henry and the patrolmen. We do not have a resource officer, but we have had help in parking, traffic flow and, recently, with A.L.I.C.E. training. This is an alternative to passive lockdowns. With building and demolition, we have had the help of Tim Miller and the water department with any concern or need for help.
Finally, I'd like to thank John Hannan and the maintenance crews. We are able to have school when other districts cannot because of the prompt response we get with streets being cleaned and readied following snowfalls.
All these are made possible through the work of Mayor John Geddis and his city government. We all know a city exists only with schools, and this has been a prime concern. Geddis has had to work through health concerns, but he is always there to help the people of Toronto, students and adults.
I chose to write this because we are truly thankful to the public for the opportunity to have beautiful facilities, but also the city employees who help us in our efforts and can always be counted on if a need arises.
