To the editor:
This letter is in response to the letter "Lesson in unconditional love" that was written by Mary Paice and appeared in the Dec. 1 edition.
I could barely get through it as I fought back the tears. There is no way to explain how I felt as I continued to read. I felt your pain and agony and the tearing of your heart as I experienced the intense love you feel for your sweet Lacy. This was indeed one of the most prolific and loving stories I've ever read.
You are an extraordinary lady. You know, my belief is God put animals here as our constant companions and to help remind us of what and gentleness truly is; to give us a little nudge in the right direction when we tend to veer off course; and to remind us of his unconditional love ever so present in their meek and humble eyes. I believe our Lord chose you to be Lacey's mom because of the type of person you are. He chose you because of your incredible ability to love.
I'm sure as this holiday season unfolds, those who had the pleasure of reading your letter, as did I, will come away better human beings. May God bless you and your family this Christmas, and I shall keep Lacey's memory alive in my heart for you. She couldn't have had a better mom. I know your letter had a definite impact on me. Thank you for being so special.
