STEUBENVILLE, Ohio - The Children's Dyslexia Center's holiday concert featuring the Tri-State Community Band directed by Rick Hicks will be held Sunday at 6 p.m. at the Masonic Temple located at 227 N. Fourth St., Steubenville.
Musical selections will include some holiday classics and family favorites, according to a center spokesperson.
There will be door prizes awarded at intermission and a "meet-the-musicians" reception after the concert.
The Elf Gift Shop also will be open in the building's lobby for last-minute gifts and decorating items.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students. Children 4 and under will be admitted for free.
Tickets can be purchased at the center by calling (740) 282-4875; the Scottish Rite office at (740) 282-1391; from any center board member; or in the building lobby the evening of the event.
All proceeds will benefit the Children's Dyslexia Center, which was established by the Scottish Rite Northern Masonic Jurisdiction and the Valley of Steubenville, specifically for children in grades kindergarten through 12, according to the website. The center is in the former library space of the Steubenville Masonic Temple.
It helps children affected by dyslexia learn to read and reach their full potential, according to the website which notes the one-on-one Orton-Gillingham lessons are free of charge to children accepted into the program.
