Hancock County elementary school students are scheduled to have some special visitors in the coming weeks as the Officer Phil program makes its return to the area.
Working with the Hancock County Sheriff's Department, the Officer Phil program will provide information on a variety of topics, including safety measures while riding bicycles, in the car or on the school bus, the importance of police officers and other ways to stay safe at home, in school or in the community.
The program, which also will include a visit from the character Lucky Duck, will discuss the importance of staying away from strangers, both in person and online, and the dangers of giving anyone personal information, including your address or phone number.
The Officer Phil program uses a variety of games and magic trips to help reinforce these lessons.
