Auxiliary plans breakfast

The Colliers Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary recently met at President Phyllis Aria's home and members planned to hold a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Feb. 15 at the Colliers Fire Hall.

Breakfast will be $6 each and include all-you-can-eat pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, coffee and juice. Waffles and take-out will be available.

Officers for the upcoming year were elected, and they include President Aria, Vice President Sabrina Fox, Secretary Evelyn Robinson, Treasurer Carol Cain and trustees Heather Isinghood, Jodi Boyd and Carol Oiler.

Additional activities will be announced at a later date.

The group agreed to make a donation to the Colliers VFD.

The next meeting will be held Feb. 13.

Prize winners announced

The Northern Panhandle Trappers Association held the annual holiday supper recently, and Jan Underwood opened with a devotion.

Adam Burdette, Underwood and Gene Burdette won prizes, and a white elephant auction was held.

The next meeting will be held Feb. 4 at the Colliers Fire Hall.

Door winners announced

Each Colliers Primary School classroom was given a different country and decorated their classroom doors to reflect the culture and history of their assigned country.

The winning classrooms were Arah Barker's class, Italy; Penny Foose's class, Mexico; and Holly Yarter's class, Germany.

Phyllis Aria, Sabrina Fox and Carol Cain were judges.

Alumni group names winner

Colliers Alumni and Friends Association President Darlene Brennan announced Jack Cain was the fundraiser winner.

The group held a successful 2014 calendar sale. The school being named a School of Excellence was featured in the calendar.

The group will next meet Feb. 5, weather permitting.

Fire department has awards night

The Colliers Volunteer Fire Department held their awards night, and all the firefighters were presented with certificates of appreciation.

Special awards were presented to: James A. Dimirack, Rookie of the Year and Firefighter of the Year; Judi Freeland, Emergency Medical Technician First Responder; Jeff Freeland, Most Improved Firefighter; Theo Keenan, Officer of the Year; and William Louge, Serviceman of the Year.

The group meets the first and third Sundays of each month.

Holiday program presented

The Colliers Primary School presented a holiday program in December.

The fourth-graders performed "Santa Claus Rock," "North Pole Rock'n Roll" and "Rock'n Roll Snowman"; third-graders performed "Whacky Wish," "A Nice Christmas" and "Everlasting Fruitcake"; second-graders performed "Penguin Polka," "Blitzen's Boogie" and "Merry Christmas Time"; first-graders performed "O Come Little Children," "Jingle Jive" and "Santa Claus is Coming to Town"; and kindergarteners performed "Wintertime," "Must Be Santa" and "Jolly Old St. Nicholas."

Principal Jo-Ellen Goodall and school faculty and staff were thanked for organizing the event.
