Indian Creek art selected for region, state exhibits

Seventh-grader Selena Peek had her water media ink drawing selected for the 2014 Young People's (kindergarten through grade eight) State Exhibit.

The Region East Ohio Art Education Association selected it in early January from submissions to the screening in Barnesville. Her artwork will be one featured in March in the State Office Tower in Columbus.

Anthony Molinaro, also a seventh-grader, had his mixed-media collage selected from the same screening for the 2014 Youth Art Month Exhibit to be held at the State Teacher's Retirement System in Columbus.

Only five artworks for each exhibit are selected from the region.

Eighth-grader Michaela Shuman, as a seventh-grader had her collograph print in the 2013 Youth Art Month Exhibit at STRS, which she attended with her family. Shuman has a work this year also accepted into the regional exhibit.

Karli Celestin had her eighth-grade drawing featured in the 2013 Young People's Show.

Indian Creek Middle school works entered into the screening and selected for the March 2014 Region East Exhibit in Cambridge included, along with Michaela, her sister, Jennifer Shuman, grade seven; Jasmine Anderson, grade eighth; Hannah Cecelones, grade seven; V. David Duff, grade seven; Amber Evans, grade eighth; Destiny McDonald-Rood, grade eighth; and Mackenzie Snyder, grade seven.

Photographs of all the works will be featured in the school's annual art exhibit to be held at Eastern Gateway Community College the week of March 24-April 1.
