Solo and Ensemble Festival

Four Oak Glen Middle School band members participated in the annual Region VI Solo and Ensemble Festival Feb. 8 at West Liberty University. Hunter Gorby played “Andante and Allegro” by Ropartz on the trumpet and received an excellent rating. Harlee Blake played “Romanza” from Mozart’s Third Horn Concerto on the horn and received a superior rating. Brooke Brothers played “Allegretto Fantasia” by Miskow on the clarinet and received a superior rating. Kayla Gilmore played “Menuet from L’Arlesienne Suite No. 2” by Bizet on the flute and received a superior rating. Brothers and Gilmore were encouraged to record their solos to submit to the West Virginia Music Educators committee that selects finalists for the State Honors Recital in March at Oglebay Park Lodge.
