Paris women invited to attend
potluck luncheon Saturday
PARIS, Pa. - A pot luck luncheon for women in their 40s and 50s who grew up in Paris will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Paris Presbyterian Church's The Gathering Place Coffee Shop located on Steubenville Pike.
Sandwiches will be provided, and those attending are asked to bring a covered dish to share.
Library assisting with fish fry
AVELLA, Pa. - The Avella Public Library will participate in the Avella Volunteer Fire Department cash bash at 6 p.m. March 15 at the fire department located on Wilson Avenue in downtown Avella. The cost is $35 per person.
The library also will be participating in the fire department's fish fry, beginning on Ash Wednesday and continuing on every Friday through Lent.
The library will hold Board of Directors meetings May 19, Aug. 18 and Nov. 17 at the library located at the Avella Community Center located at 11 School Court, Avella Heights.
New hours for the library are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and Saturday.
Lecture series continues March 8
WEIRTON - The Worldview Scholarships lecture series will continue with "Prophecy and the Bible" and "Science and the Bible" March 8 at the Weirton Heights Memorial Baptist Church located at 121 Ivy St.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. Refreshments will be available during registration.

OSP?presents 'Heaven Can Wait'
HICKORY - The Old Schoolhouse Players will present "Heaven Can Wait," written by Harry Segal and directed by David L. Grande, at 7:30 p.m. March 14-15 and 21-22 and 3 p.m. March 16 and 23 at the Bud Allison Memorial Auditorium in the Mount Pleasant Township Community Center located at 20 Wabash Ave. Tickets are $13 for adults, $11 for seniors 60 and older and $8 for children 12 and under.

Church holding community meal
WELLSBURG - The First Presbyterian Church will hold a free community dinner, "Potluck o' the Irish," at 6 p.m. March 16 at the church, located at 901 Charles St.
Bureau conducting food drive
The Washington County Farm Bureau began its annual food drive, and it will continue through the end of March. All food collected in the respective districts will be donated to food pantries in those districts.
In the Burgettstown area, food will be collected at the Burgettstown Community Library at 2 Kerr Street, Burgettstown; and at Village Tack located at 100 Plaza Drive/state Route 18, Atlasburg.
In the Fort Cherry School District, food will be collected at the Midway Community Center located at 304 Noblestown Road, Midway; Heritage Public Library located at 52 Fourth St., McDonald; and Washington Financial Bank located at 220 Main St., Hickory. In the Avella area, there is a collection box at the Avella Area Community Center, located at 11 School Court on Avella Heights.
Senior Center holding bingo event
WEIRTON - The Greater Weirton Senior Center will hold a bingo cash bash from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. April 6 at 3425 Main St.
The doors open at 11:30 a.m., and early birds begin at 12:30 p.m.
Packets including five early birds and all games. Cover-all pays out $1,000, and extra cards can be purchased. There will be three $100 drawings, and winners need not be present. The event will include door prizes, a Chinese auction, 50/50 drawing and drawing tickets. The cost is $40 per person.
