The Weirton Area Chamber of Commerce sees growth and a cooperative spirit in the local area, and looking at the last few years, we would have to agree.
While large industrial employers are few these days, they are being replaced with new, smaller businesses and other, established companies are experiencing new improvements not seen in some time.
The chamber held its annual membership meeting Tuesday, with leaders noting more than 60 new businesses from throughout the region joining the organization, continued cooperation among the business community to promote the Tri-State Area and even a few businesses who are celebrating significant milestones.
Through its Business After Hours, leadership and membership programs, as well as community events like the Weirton Christmas Parade, the chamber works tirelessly to promote business in the area.
We know the growth isn't happening at the rate some would hope, but it is happening. Businesses of all shapes and sizes are opening their doors, new opportunities are constantly being sought, and the chamber has been there every step of the way to provide numerous programs for its members and encourage our residents to support their local businesses.
It is only through that continued support and by working as a community that we will continue to build a prosperous future for our region.
