fry today on Washington Street
NEWELL - The Newell Lions Club will hold a fish fry from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today at the club located at 510 Washington St.
Fish sandwiches are available for $5, a dinner including a sandwich, fries and coleslaw, $8 and sides a la carte are $2 each. Eat-in and carry-out are available. Delivery is available with a minimum order.

Christian singer to appear Sunday
WELLSBURG - Christian recording artist Jonathan White will present a worship concert at 10:45 a.m. Sunday at Wellsburg Church of the Nazarene located at 835 Washington Pike.
White has recorded several albums including music ranging from traditional hymns to patriotic songs to Christmas favorites and has performed at a variety of venues, including the Grand Ole Opry and Bill Gaither Homecoming Series.
White's faith has helped him to overcome many challenges. His parents died as the result of a car accident in 1991, and he and his wife of nine months assumed care for his 16-year-old brother and 10-year-old sister. The pair also have a daughter with Down Syndrome.
Their son Austin also sings and has recorded albums.
The Rev. Dennis Yingling is the church's pastor.
Auditions being held
HICKORY, Pa. - The Old Schoolhouse Players will hold auditions for the musical "Lucky Stiff" from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the Old Schoolhouse Players auditorium in the Mount Pleasant Township Community Center located at 20 Wabash Ave.
Director Marcus Muzopappa and Musical Director Ruth Ann Fox will conduct the auditions, during which those auditioning will be asked to sing 32 bars of an upbeat show tune while dancing, if possible.
Those auditioning are asked to bring a headshot and resume. There will be no cold readings; casting will be based on singing, dancing and resume.

School retirees to meet
WELLSBURG - The Brooke County Association of Retired School Employees will meet at 11:30 a.m. April 8 at Franklin Methodist Church located at 1231 Washington Pike.
Sharon Cuomo will preside over the business meeting immediately following the luncheon. A West Virginia Association of Retired School Employees will be the speaker.
All members and recently retired employees are encouraged to attend.

Children's knitting group to meet
WELLSBURG - The Brooke County Library's Kid's Knitting Group will meet from 5:45 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Children in third grade or higher can learn to knit with help from instructor Nora Bell. Those attending are asked to bring their own yarn and needles or loom.

Church to hold revival
FOLLANSBEE - Follansbee First Church of the Nazarene will hold revival services at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday through April 6.
Guest speakers will be the Rev. Louis and Charlotte Staubs.

WELLSBURG - The Brooke County Public Library will be showing the film "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire," rated PG-13, at 5 p.m. Thursday.

Library holding Easter event
NEW CUMBERLAND - The Swaney Memorial Library will hold the annual Breakfast with the Easter Bunny at 10:30 a.m. April 5 at the library located on Court Street.
Breakfast includes pancakes, eggs, bacon, toast, juice and coffee. The cost is $3 per person. The Easter Bunny will be in attendance and children may have their pictures taken with it. Parents should bring their own cameras.
The event also will include a craft and an Easter Egg hunt.
