WHEELING - The Ohio County Public Library will host Garry Adelman, Civil War photography expert, during a Lunch With Books program at noon April 14 at the library located at 52 16th St.
Through then and now, 3-D and 4-D techniques, Adelman will present a photographic tour of the Civil War.
"Photographs are a key primary source that assist in understanding the conflict, and when grasping the aims and methods of the photographers and pairing their images with modern photos taken at the same place, the impact is even more valuable," said Adelman

The Civil War was the first war to be extensively photographed. It saw the birth of photojournalism, technological innovations, the first photos of dead American soldiers and the public impact.
A graduate of Michigan State University and Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania, Adelman is the author, co-author or editor of 20 books and 30 articles on the Civil War.
He is the vice president of the Center for Civil War Photography and has been a licensed battlefield guide at Gettysburg for 19 years.
Adelman has appeared on numerous productions shown on the BBC, C-Span, Pennsylvania Cable Network and on HISTORY.
He works full time as Director of History and Education at the Civil War Trust.
