What happened to Americanism?
We have the communist left leading us down the wrong path and those pretending to be on our side making sure we stay there.
John Boehner introduced another all-show-and-no-action plan to press the Justice Department to consider a criminal case against ex-IRS official Lois Lerner for "misleading Congress." It will do just about as much good as voting 40 times to repeal Obamacare.
When true Americans stood up to defund Obamacare, something that really would work, Boehner made sure it didn't happen. Formal notice was given by the House Ways and Means Committee to Attorney General Eric Holder about the referral for possible criminal prosecution against Lerner.
What a joke, they expect the same Holder who is in contempt of Congress for withholding evidence in the Fast and Furious investigation to press criminal charges against one of his own government elites. We have gone from "of the people, by the people, for the people" to "of the elites, by the elites, for the elites."
It was just a few days ago that U.S. Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, pressed Eric Holder on documents from the Fast and Furious investigation and Holder said, "You don't want to go there, buddy."
Those sacred words from the Declaration of Independence "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness"
Freedom from excessive centralization of power and the right of the citizenry to flourish without undue interference are hallmarks of what it means to be American.
What do we need to do to take that power away from centralized government?
First and foremost, put that power back in God's hands - we are just the instruments.
We need to stand up for what we believe, just as Mayor John Abdalla did when he displayed the crosses in Stratton against the threat of action by the Madison, Wis.-based Freedom From Religion Foundation. Tell them we are not interested in their "freedom from religion," we are a Christian nation and the First Amendment guarantees our freedom of religion, not "from religion."
The First Amendment - Freedom of religion: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion" - it says nothing about "from religion."
The second thing we need to do is change the current tax system now being used to pick winners and losers. We do have options - a good place to start is either with the fair tax or the flat tax.
In order to understand the difference between the two, Steubenville For Liberty and the American Patriot Council will sponsor a fair tax vs. flat tax debate April 21 in the Eastern Gateway Community College lecture hall. Doors open at 6 p.m.
