MILLER, Richard L. "Dick" Sr., 77, of Rayland, OH, passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at home.
He was born June 1, 1936, in Martins Ferry, OH, a son of the late George and Violet (Walters) Miller.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, John and George Miller; and four sisters, Hazel Marisnick, Mary Miller and two infants.
Dick was a retired brickmason out of International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local 10-Ohio for 40 years. After his retirement he worked alongside his son at Rick Miller Construction.
Dick was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the Mingo Sportsman Club. He also enjoyed going to the Wheeling Downs dog track and hanging out with Rick and Michelle's dogs, Ralph and Kasha.
Surviving are his wife, Sylvia (Verhovec) Miller, whom he married on March 21, 1958; a daughter, Sherry (Frank) Cammer of Brilliant, Ohio, and Richard L. "Rick" (Michelle) Miller of Rayland; five brothers, Jack Miller of Springfield, Ohio, Jim (Linda) Miller of St. Clairsville, Ohio, Gary (Sarah) Miller of Martins Ferry, Ohio, Tom (Sharon) Miller of Yorkville, Ohio and Dave (Nancy) Miller of Toronto, Ohio; two sisters, Violet (Charles) Davis of Tiltonsville, Ohio and Marsha (Ron) Turek of Virginia; three grandchildren, Dana (Dave) DiCello, Ashley Cammer and Meredith Rohan; a great-grandson, Declan DiCello; and two devoted friends, Tom "Foxy" Fox and Bob Kerns.
Friends will be received at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 712 Third St., Brilliant, on Friday from 4 p.m. until the time of his funeral services at 6 p.m., with Rev. Marvin Schooler, officiating.
