To the Editor,
The 2014 version of the Easter Cross Project was an extraordinary success. This spring, over 3,350 crosses were distributed by members of many different churches in the Tri-State Area.
Sponsored by the Weirton Ministerial Association, the project has placed over 19,000 crosses for display at homes and businesses over the last three years. This year over 1,125 were welcomed by citizens in Wintersville alone.
The Valley Pastor's Network worked cooperatively with the WMA to achieve remarkable goals. They raised $568 for the Urban Mission of Steubenville, and the Cause Life Walkathon conducted on the Saturday before Easter generated over $2,154 to help build a fresh-water well in a third world impoverished nation.
The efforts culminated with a glorious, well-attended Sunrise Service on Easter morning at the Serbian-American Cultural Center in Weirton.
Several churches were represented at a time of praise, worship and joyful fellowship. The offering of nearly $300 was given to the Weirton Community Bread Basket.
Thanks go out to all the supporting ministers and citizens who worked together on both sides of the river to glorify God and spread the message of the cross. Many hours were spent preparing, praying, walking and sharing.
Anyone wishing to donate to the Easter Cross project may do so by sending a gift to WMA at P.O. Box 128, Weirton, WV 26062. To receive a cross contact me at (304) 748-4422 and to learn more about the ministry, check out Easter Crosses on Facebook.
