ROBINSON, James E., after a lengthy illness was called home to be with his Heavenly Father and loved ones on May 4, 2014, at Trinity Health System in Steubenville, OH.
He was born on March 2, 1926, in Steubenville, Ohio to the late Scott C and Lucibelle Keaton Robinson.
James attended Steubenville City Schools and was a graduate of Steubenville High School where he was member of the football and track teams.
He continued his education at West Virginia State University on a football scholarship. He returned to Steubenville and was employed at Weirton Steel for over 25 years. He was a member of Quinn Memorial AME Church where he served as a trustee and a member of the Men's Choir.
In March, 1952, he married the love of his life, Nancy Foutz. They were married for 62 years.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Rose H. Robinson; brothers, Herman, Ernest, Preston and John Robinson; and nephew, Michael Wise.
James loved the outdoors. He planted a garden every year where he shared its bounty with family and friends. He enjoyed fishing and caught many walleye and trout that he fried every year as part of his Christmas feast. He was an avid golfer and journeyed to The Carolinas with friends for annual golf tournaments.
James was the historian of the family and shared many stories with his nephews and nieces. He was a devoted son, husband, brother and uncle.
He leaves to cherish his memory, sister, Sheila (William) Hendricks; nephew and caregiver, Ernest (Bubba) Robinson of Steubenville, OH; nephews, Preston (Cynthia) Robinson Jr, Atlanta, GA and Roger (Pam) Robinson of Baltimore, MD, Gene (Debbie) Wise of Steubenville, OH, Richard (Mary) Wise of Cleveland, OH; nieces, Jacqueline Moore of Wintersville, OH, Patti (Ernest) Tate of Atlanta, GA , Stephanie (Ronald) Sullivan of Cambridge, MA., Sylvia (Glenn) Thompson, Steubenville, OH, Mary (Robert) Evans of Longview, TX; sisters-in-law, Virginia Robinson of Wintersville, Oh, Dorothy Robinson of Atlanta, Ga and a host of grand nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Wake and Funeral 10 and 11 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2014, at Quinn Memorial AME Church, 515 North St, Steubenville, Ohio. Rev. Raymond Mickens will officiate. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery.
