WEIRTON - The First Choice America Community Federal Credit Union announced the 2014 People Helping People Scholarships recipients.
Those selected include:
Francesca M. Basil, a Madonna High School graduate, plans to study business and economics at West Virginia University. She is the daughter of John and Mary Basil of Weirton.
Kelsey Marie Brown, a Greensburg Central Catholic High School graduate, is studying electrical engineering technology at Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus. She is the daughter of Kelly and Susan Brown of Acme, Pa., and granddaughter of Amatore and Tina Titi of Mingo Junction, Ohio.
Amy L. Davis, a Weirton Madonna graduate, is studying nursing at West Virginia University. She is the daughter of Kevin and Mary Davis of Weirton.
Brice J. Hickey, a Brooke High School graduate, is studying biology at West Virginia University. He is the son of Donald and Lisa Hickey of Weirton.
Chad E. Ingram, a John Marshall High School graduate, is studying natural resource management environmental science and forest technology at Glenville State College. He is the son of Floyd and Cindy Ingram of Moundsville.
Since the program's inception in 1995, the credit union has awarded almost $100,000 in scholarships. Each recipient receives $1,000.
The scholarship is open to high school and college students who are primary members of the First Choice America Community Federal Credit Union. Grade point average, scholastic achievements and community involvement are considered in awarding the scholarships. Applications with complete guidelines for the next school year will be available this October at any office location.
