WEEK TEN: BIG RED 30, UNIVERSITY 0

STEUBENVILLE — Big Red dominated play on both sides of the ball and blanked University School 30-0 on senior night on Oct. 27.

With the victory, Steubenville became the 21st team in program history to finish a regular season unbeaten. The win also clinched the school’s seventh AP poll championship, Steubenville entered the game as Ohio’s top-ranked Division IV squad.

Big Red finished with 366 yards of offense (Jacob Bernard compiled 185 rushing yards, all in the first half), while University was limited to 24 rushing yards and 94 through the air. The Preppers came to town averaging 394 yards per game (167 passing and 227 rushing).

Bernard ran for two touchdowns, while Jonathon Blackmon and Jamal Petteway also found the end zone. The defense also produced points when junior Kwadre Williams and sophomore Randy Mitchell joined forces to sack University’s quarterback in the end zone.

Following the regular season finale, Big Red began preparing for its 17th consecutive trip to the playoffs.
