Post 33 has successful trip in Michigan

ADRIAN, Mich. — The Jefferson County Teramana Post 33 Legion baseball team went 3-1 this past weekend in a tournament in Michigan.

In the first game on Friday, Post 33 fell Stevensville Post 568, 6-5. The game was tied at 5-5 before Stevensville ended it in the bottom of the seventh.

Tristan Haught pitched six solid innings, striking out six and walking three in the no-decision. Gino Pierro, Larry Bielawski, Anthony Sinicropi and Luke Zorne each singled and recorded an RBI. Mike Pierro had a double and a single, while Alec Taylor singled twice.

In the second game on Friday, Post 33 defeated Hudson Post 180, 13-4, in a shortened affair. Andrew Kinner picked up the victory, striking out three and walking three. Ryan Higgs and Connor Hydman led offensively with a double and three RBIs each. Haught had two singles and a run batted in. Sinicropi recorded a single and two RBIs. Bielawski added a single and two RBIs.

On Saturday, Post 33 took down Ida, 9-1, in five innings. Matt Bell earned the victory, striking out three and walking two in the complete game. Bielawski collected a home run, double and three RBIs. Hydman recorded a pair of RBI singles. Gino Pierro had a single and two RBIs. Joey Nave added a pair of base hits.

In the finale on Sunday, Post 33 defeated Blissfield Post 325, 3-2. The game ended after a Post 325 runner was thrown out trying to steal home.

Nicky Zorne went the distance, collecting five strikeouts and four walks. Mike Pierro tallied a single and two RBIs. Taylor tripled twice. Luke Zorne had a triple and a single. Nave also tripled, giving Post 33 four triples overall.

Post 33 (17-16) returns to action at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Tuscarawas County.
