The Bob Young Memorial Mile, named in honor of the late founder of the Steuben Striders, was held as part of the track and field club’s annual Independence Day meet at the Harding Track Complex. Coach Patricia Herring, center, who helped to co-found the program 45 years ago, congratulated winners, from left, Anthony Venditti, men’s 14-and-under; Maximillian Nelson, men’s 14-and-older; Kathryn Bolster, women’s 14-and-under; and Beatrice Wear, women’s 15-and-older. Wear finished first in her category for the second year in a row. The Striders will hold their final meet of the season beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Harding complex.
