Big Red girls win 8th game

GLEN DALE — The Steubenville girls soccer team defeated John Marshall, 3-2, on Tuesday.

Mary Marshall, Chloe Petrelle and Libby Saccoccia each scored once for Big Red (8-2). Anastasia Crisante and Jadyn Bennett each tallied one assist. Zoe Nocera made two saves in goal, while Lakyn Blackburn had one.

For John Marshall, Isabella Anderson made eight saves in goal. Zara Cerzos and Tressa Begely each recorded one goal and one assist.

Big Red hosts Philo at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

Wheeling Park 5,

Steubenville 1

STEUBENVILLE — The Wheeling Park boys soccer team defeated Steubenville, 5-1, on Tuesday.

Ian Phillips scored Big Red’s (3-2-1) lone goal, while Jacob Clevenger made 15 saves in goal.

For Wheeling Park, Chris Romanek and Louie Aulick each scored twice, while Cole Meredith had one. Vincent Bauer, Andrew Glass, Eric Estep and Jason Pennybacker had one assist each. Zach Calvert made four saves in goal.

Big Red hosts Weir High at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Edison 1, East Liverpool 0

EDISON — The Edison girls soccer team defeated East Liverpool, 1-0, on Tuesday.

Lauren Ferralli scored the game’s lone goal on an assist from Libby McAfoose. Alli Grimes made one save in goal.

Brooke 7, Carrollton 0

WELLSBURG — Josh Ferguson scored four goals, while Nick Cruney netted a hat trick during the Brooke boys soccer team’s 7-0 victory over Carrollton on Tuesday.

Cruney led the Bruins (5-4-3) with two assists. Ferguson, Hunter Adams, Liam Cronin and Blaise Buchmelter had one apiece. Matt Reed was the starting goalkeeper and made four saves. Garret Bernadini made three saves, and Liam Riska had none.

Brooke travels to Parkersburg on Thursday.

United 3, Toronto 0

TORONTO — The United volleyball team swept Toronto, 25-19, 25-11, 25-20, on Tuesday.

Jocelyn Meridith led the Red Knights (2-9, 1-7 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference) with five points and three aces. Maddie Anderson had nine blocks, while Jamie Anderson tallied six kills.

Toronto hosts Weir High at 5:30 p.m. today.

The Toronto jayvee squad defeated United, 25-15, 25-22.

Oak Glen 3, CCHS 0

NEW MANCHESTER — The Oak Glen volleyball team defeated Catholic Central, 25-13, 25-15, 25-11, on Tuesday.

Jaedyn Hissam led the Golden Bears with seven points, two aces, 31 assists, two kills and one block. McKayla Goodlin had 12 kills, three blocks and two digs. Hanna Tice contributed four points, nine kills, one block and four digs. Graci Tice had 17 points, one ace and three kills.

For the Crusaders, Theresa Bahen had 13 points, two kills and four aces. Karmen DiBiase recorded five points, one kill, six assists, two blocks and five digs. Sydney Bennington had seven points, one kill, three blocks and five digs. Emma Borden added five points, six kills, two assists, one assist and one block.

St. Clairsville 3,

Edison 0

EDISON — The Edison volleyball team fell to St. Clairsville, 25-20, 25-11, 25-12, on Tuesday.

Karissa Speedy recorded one ace, one kill, one block, three assists and one dig for the Wildcats. Gracie Phillips had four assists and three digs. Brianna Crawford added two kills and two digs.

Williams CC

Invitational

WEIRTON — Brooke’s Ryan Bilby earned medalist honors at the Williams CC Invitational on Tuesday.

Bilby carded a 67 and made the all-tournament team. Brooke finished fourth overall with a team score of 426. Alex Jezierski shot a 114, Cole Craft 120 and Alexis Spensky 125.

North Marion won with a 377. Burgettstown was second with a 389 and South Side third with a 393.

Harrison Central 170, Toronto 172

CADIZ — The Harrison Central golf team defeated Toronto by two strokes on Tuesday at the Cadiz Country Club.

The Huskies shot a 170, led by Sam Santille’s 41. Cruz Capers shot a 42, Cameron McIntosh 43 and Nick Coffland 44.

The Red Knights finished with a 172. Cole Degarmo was the medalist, carding a 40. Andre Roach shot a 43, Brennan Suffoletta 44 and Hunter Keenan 45.
