Big Red volleyball beats Huskies

CADIZ — The Steubenville volleyball team defeated Harrison Central, 25-20, 25-13, 18-25, 25-20, on Tuesday.

Anna Taylor paced Big Red with eight points, one ace, 11 kills, 1 assist and 14 digs. Emily Allen had nine points, two aces, one kill, seven assists and five digs. Sidney Snyder compiled seven points, one ace, 15 kills, six blocks and four digs. Leah Ferguson added 10 points, five aces, 16 assists and nine digs.

Oak Glen girls down CCHS

NEW MANCHESTER — Maggie Kovalcik’s hat trick led Oak Glen to a 9-2 victory over Catholic Central in girls soccer action on Tuesday.

Juliani Birden and Reece Enochs tallied a pair of goals each for the Golden Bears (7-1). Abigail Myers had a goal and five assists, while Brooklyn Loveland scored once. Kovalcik, Enochs and Maddie McKay had one assist apiece. Kaylee Travis made three saves in goal.

For the Crusaders, Christine Dombrowski scored and Rebecca Bodo assisted. The other goal was not recorded. Bri DeChristopher made 31 saves in goal.

Tuesday’s game was a postponement from Monday at Catholic Central

Oak Glen hosts John Marshall at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Madonna’s Virden has four goals

SISTERSVILLE — MaKayla Virden’s four-goal game lifted the Madonna girls soccer team to an 8-1 victory over Tyler Consolidated on Tuesday.

Kali Krynicki scored a pair of goals for the Blue Dons, while Krista Velegol and Lonni Riggs added one apiece. Krynicki and Madison Brine each assisted twice. Abby Macek, Virden and Riggs tallied one assist apiece.

Toronto volleyball swept

SALINEVILLE — The Southern Local volleyball team defeated Toronto, 25-21, 25-11, 25-21 on Tuesday.

Kendal Thomas had 14 points and two aces for the Red Knights (2-8, 1-6 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference). Maddie Anderson produced 10 blocks, while Jamie Anderson had seven blocks and three kills. Riley Kinsey added 23 digs.

Southern improved to 7-1, 6-1 in the EOAC.

Toronto travels to Wellsville on Thursday.

Creek selling football tickets

WINTERSVILLE — Indian Creek will be selling tickets from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday and Friday in the gym for its away game with Buckeye Local on Friday.
