Indian Creek’s Jallow nets nine goals in victory over John Marshall

MINGO JUNCTION — Indian Creek’s Alpha Jallow scored nine goals in leading the Redskins to a 14-3 victory over John Marshall in boys soccer action on Tuesday.

Gunnar Brettel finished with a pair of goals and six assists for Indian Creek (4-2). Markel Papola also netted two goals, while Mitch Williams had one. Logan Davis made six saves in goal.

For John Marshall (3-2), Justin Mencer, Wesley Eskridte and Cooper Curti had one goal apiece. Dertan O’Bryan made 16 saves.

Indian Creek hosts Cambridge at 5 p.m. on Thursday.

Oak Glen 3, Indian Creek 0

NEW MANCHESTER — Maggie Kovalcik scored twice in leading the Oak Glen girls soccer team to a 3-0 victory over Indian Creek on Tuesday.

Brooklyn Loveland scored the other goal for the Golden Bears (4-1). Brooklyn Watts recorded an assist. Kaylee Travis made three saves in goal.

For Indian Creek (4-2), Mackenzie Orban made nine saves in goal.

Oak Glen hosts East Liverpool at 6 p.m. today. The game may be moved to 7 p.m., depending on the weather.

Steubenville 1,

St. Clairsville 1

STEUBENVILLE — The Steubenville and St. Clairsville boys soccer teams played to a 1-1 tie on Tuesday.

Jacob Noble scored for Big Red (3-1-1), while Jacob Clevenger made six saves in goal.

For St. Clairsville, Caden Stout scored the team’s lone goal, with Zachary Orzolek assisting. Ryan Davenport made 13 saves.

Big Red travels to Oak Glen on Thursday.

Brooke 6, East Liverpool 0

WELLSBURG — The Brooke girls soccer team defeated East Liverpool, 6-0, on Tuesday.

Madison Platt led the Bruins (2-6) with a hat trick. Katie Diserio, Emily Donley and Lydia Buchmelter netted one goal apiece. Diserio also finished with an assist. Natalie Slidka made five saves in goal.

Brooke hosts Indian Creek on Thursday.

CADIZ — The Edison girls soccer team defeated Harrison Central, 3-1, on Tuesday.

Maddie Brenstuhl led the Wildcats with a pair of goals. Lauren Ferralli scored the third goal off a penalty kick. Hanna Smith recorded an assist. Alli Grimes made four saves in goal.
