East Liverpool tops Big Red in four

EAST LIVERPOOL — The Steubenville volleyball team lost in four sets at East Liverpool on Thursday, 25-18, 25-14, 15-27, 25-14.

Anna Taylor had 12 kills, seven digs, three blocks and two aces. Sidney Snyder had 15 kills, four blocks, two digs and an ace. Leah Ferguson had 15 assists and four digs. Emily Allen had 11 assists.

Big Red is now 8-5 and plays at Barnesville on Tuesday.

CCHS 3, Linsly 0

STEUBENVILLE — The Catholic Central volleyball team defeated Linsly 25-18, 25-18, 25-15, Thursday at home.

The Crusaders got 10 digs, eight kills, eight assists and five aces from Karmen DiBiase. Sydney Bennington had six assists, three kills and two blocks. Edy Harold had five assists and four kills. Theresa Bahen had five aces, four kills and four digs. Emma Borden had five kills, three digs and two blocks.

Catholic Central is 9-4 and hosts Toronto on Monday for senior night.

Edison 3, Buckeye Local 0

RICHMOND — The Edison volleyball team defeated Buckeye Local at home on Thursday, 25-17, 25-13, 25-20.

Kayla Wood had five kills and a block for the Wildcats. Gracie Phillips had six assists, two aces and two kills. Karissa Speedy had seven assists, four aces and a kill. Mikayla Petrisko had two aces and two kills. Jadden Vincenzo had three aces and three digs.

Edison is at Indian Creek on Monday.

Oak Glen 0, JCCS 0

NEW MANCHESTER — The Oak Glen boys soccer team tied Jefferson County Christian School, 0-0, Thursday.

Jacob Clark made eight saves in goal for the Golden Bears, and Preston Schilling made 17 saves for Jefferson County Christian.

Oak Glen hosts Edison at 11 a.m. on Saturday.

Beaver Local 5,

Weir High 4

WEIRTON — The Weir High girls soccer team fell to Beaver Local, 5-4, at home on Thursday.

Julia Gianni had all four goals for the Red Riders. Nina Grassini and Megan Cramer had assists. Alexis Adams (seven saves) and Alexis Vuiller (three saves) spilt time in net.

Weir High is now 5-8-0 and plays at Tyler Consolidated on Saturday.

Oak Glen 5, Edison 0

NEW MANCHESTER — The Oak Glen girls soccer team defeated Edison 5-0 at home on Thursday.

Maggie Kovalcik scored two goals, Reece Enochs had two goals and two assists and Brooklyn Loveland had a goal and an assist for the Golden Bears.

Kayle Travis made four saves in goal for Oak Glen Glen. Edison’s Alli Grimes made 21 saves.

Oak Glen is 10-1 and plays in the first round of the OVAC 4A tournament on Tuesday. Edison is 4-7.

Big Red wins quad

STEUBENVILLE — The Steubenville golf team won a quad-match with John Marshall, Edison and Madonna on Thursday at Steubenville Country Club.

Big Red finished with a team score of 169, led by medalist Paul Mastros’ 34.

Micah Krause shot a 43, Carlo Biasi a 44 and Isaac Krause a 48.

John Marshall had team score of 178, led by Cody Grall with a 41.

Edison finished at 205. George Ash shot a 40, Andrew Pugh a 48, Sage Christianson a 56 and Brennan Scott a 61.

Madonna did not have a team score. Dom Mazur shot a 46, Chad Durante a 57 and Adam Burdette a 65.

CCHS 176,

Indian Creek 192

BLOOMINGDALE — The Catholic Central golf team beat Indian Creek, 176-192, Thursday at Red Oaks Golf Course.

Catholic Central’s Cole Tegano was the medalist with a 41. Zach Campbell shot a 42 for the Crusaders, Brendan Schaffer a 46 and Luca Connor a 47.

The Redskins got a 43 from Justice Morris, a 47 from Noah Corella, a 48 from Josh Speaker and a 54 from Trevor Meek.

Weir High 177,

Brooke 215

NEW CUMBERLAND — The Weir High golf team defeated Brooke, 177-215, Thursday at Woodview Golf Course.

Brooke’s Ryan Bilby was the medalist.

The Red Riders got a 44 from Jasmine Tustin. Jesse Tustin shot a 43, Zach Guiddy a 50 and Elijah Zimmerman a 54.

Also for the Bruins, Cole Craft shot a 56, Alex Jezierski a 57 and Alexis Spensky a 68.
